Reaching Out Summer 2003
From

Spring
is finally here! Snow blowers and shovels are put away and I am reassured
by the sound of lawn mowers! People seem to have a lighter step and
smiling is easier.
Last week,
I attended a Junior League meeting to accept a grant that we had requested.
Before the meeting was called to order, the room was filled with excited
conversation, laughter, and energy. The volume of voices was very
high and it required numerous requests from the speaker to gain everyone’s
attention.
Later in
the week, I had a meeting at another local agency. It was lunchtime
and I had to pass through the eating area to reach my destination.
There was a similar amount of people as in the previous meeting I
mentioned, however, the atmosphere was starkly different. The energy,
laughter and spirit were lacking.
Life’s
daily challenges can either energize or deflate your spirit. We are
all in various stages of highs and lows. For those of you who are
exuding high energy and feel like sharing it with others, please let
us use you to help those who need their batteries recharged.
For those
of you who need an extra boost, call us even if it is just to talk
or have a meeting with a counselor to help get you motivated. You
don’t have to do it alone. Spring-cleaning is not just for the dust
and cobwebs found in our homes. Our priorities can use a cleaning
too. Helping someone else certainly can boost your spirits as any
of you that have assisted on a "bail-out" know.
For the
past year, I have had the honor of working with women daily who have
energy and spirit. They are always willing to share with others. They
are committed to teaching how to rekindle personal spirit and in finding
joy and the importance of the necessary things in life. It has nothing
to do with money and possessions. It has to do with remembering who
we are and to stop being fearful of the unknown.
Many of
you are aware that in June I am leaving Home Management Resources
to move with my daughter to Wyoming. I too will be calling for a boost
of energy and spirit as I start a new life in a new place with new
challenges.
I want
to thank you all for your kindness and words of support. I have learned
so much from counselors and students and our board of directors. You
are all great teachers of life and an unending energy source for myself
and others.
Thank
you all.
