In the last few months
Home Management Resources has experienced the bountiful charity of the
Michiana community with an outpouring of funds that will enable us to
grow and serve families in the Michiana area and beyond! The joy and
anticipation of what Home Management Resources will be accomplishing
in 2003 is due to all of you and your generosity. We thank each of you
for digging deep in this troubled economic time. You understand the
great need and share our vision of a community of families dwelling
in peace, order and dignity. We applaud you!
In addition to your charity,
family foundations in trust at Wells Fargo Bank have generously funded
two of our grant proposals. The first, for $17,600 will cover the cost
of one Family Life Seminar enabling the students to attend the course
at no cost. The second, for $8,000, will provide four New Beginning
Seminars at Hope Rescue Mission. Thank-you to our friends at Wells Fargo!
This past Christmas was
a lot happier for nine families who received a bounty of gifts from
the folks at Honeywell. Thanks to John Hengen, for organizing and implementing
this "Santa Claus" project. Also, $975.00 in scrip was raised
and directly distributed to families whose children were hoping to have
their Santa’s list filled. The scrip program allows parents the dignity
to purchase the toys, books and clothes their children dreamed of having.
Our thanks to all who donated scrip.
Finally, I want to tell
you about our newest fund-raiser. Mark February 26th on your
calendar as FIESTA TIME! Then take one of the tokens from the
enclosed sheet, (share the others with friends and family!) and head
to Hacienda at 100 Center, Mishawaka. Hand the token to your server
when you order, and let the fiesta begin! When you pay your bill, Home
Management Resources will receive 20% of the total, (that includes beverages!)
Each check requires one token. Please do not pass out tokens on Hacienda
property or our fund-raising efforts will be disqualified.
You can also use your
token to buy gift cards for future use. I have a few family birthdays
in March, so when I go for dinner I am going to purchase gift cards
on my food bill and Home Management still receives 20% of my total bill!
If you’re too busy to
eat in the restaurant on February 26th, you can call in your order and
pick it up, using your token when you pay. (Call me at 233-3486 and
I’ll send you a takeout menu.)
What a wonderful way…
To get together with your "buds"! To see old friends! To arrange
a reunion with your Home Management classmates! To gather with your
fellow counselors! To celebrate for no special reason! You’ll enjoy
fun food and contribute to a worthy cause all at the same time!
The Hacienda at 100 Center
is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and if you go on "off hours"
you won’t have much of a wait. Let’s fill it up all day on Wednesday,
February 26th! Our staff will be holding down a table or two at lunchtime,
then coming back with our families for supper. Join us – we’ll be looking
for you!
P.S. If you need more
tokens, just call me.
